It’s March 17th, St. Patrick's Day and we have so many things to prepare ahead of today’s party. This is the day green is the main color choice for people in many parts of the world. In fact, this holiday is so popular that it’s the only day when wearing a green wig means you’ll actually be blending with the crowd. Everybody goes big on St. Patrick’s Day, from massive parties, to festivals and block parties. Don’t believe us?
Last year, more than 240 sites around the world took part in the Global Greening project, where popular places (or rivers) are turned green for the holiday. Check out this video from last year, when the Chicago River was turned emerald green using 45 pounds of vegetable dye ahead of St. Patrick's Day annual parade.
St. Patrick’s Day is not only an excuse to drink cold pints of Guinness with a green wig on. It’s a fun time to bring your friends together for a massive party. And while we’re sure you’ve already covered most of your green-themed party decorations, we thought it would be a good idea to share with you a list of 7 easy DIY tutorials to put a little bit of green cheer on your lamps too. Whether you’re planning to use an existing lamp or make a new one, this idea is so simple and cute, it’s really hard not to pin it to your must-make DIY projects. There are basically two ways to make your St. Patrick’s Day using paint. Either paint your shade and even table base in a beautiful shade of emerald green, or use a cutout to make it even more fun. Cut a shamrock, the words “Lucky You”, or even a pot of gold. Apply the cutout to your shade and paint the area outside it.

Shamrocks or clovers are a symbol of Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day and they are said to be a good luck charm, particularly if you’re blessed to find the famous four-leaf clover. Even if you can’t find one with a fourth leaf (apparently 1 in 10,000 clovers will be four-leaf), it is believed that each leaf of a clover represents something: faith, hope and love. All in all, shamrocks are good fortune symbols to have around the home for your St. Patrick’s Day party. One way to enjoy clovers when you can’t find them close to your house, is to make your own and we’ve found these fun DIY tutorials to make shamrock appliques which you can add to your lamps:

You know those old T-shirts from college that you just can’t decide to give or throw away? We bet they’ve seen the best of your partying days (and nights). Although these T-shirts surely have some emotional value, they’re not exactly what you’d be seen wearing these days. So, why not recycle those into a new shade? Well, this one is going to be fun. Just take an empty bottle, use a bottle wiring kit, adhesive styrene and a ring set to make a lamp with a fun story to tell. Maybe it’s the beer brand you loved having in college, or yesterday’s cold one you had while crafting, or maybe it’s his favorite brand of beer. Bottom line: making a cool lamp using a beer bottle is super easy.

For those die hard DIY fans, St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect excuse to craft all through the week ahead, and on top of the project list, is often the leprechaun hat. Thing is, this can be applied to a lampshade too.
If you already have the base and shade, all you have to do is craft the hat around the shade. We recommend using thin paper for your hat to allow the light to pass through and give a soft light.
If you have the base, but don’t have the shade, you can make one using adhesive styrene, a ring set and a glue kit. Then either stick the paper directly to the adhesive styrene (note this will make your leprechaun hat lampshade permanent) or do as above, crafting the hat around the shade, to make it easy to remove after St. Patrick’s Day.
