When we put together this lamp round-up, we instantly fell in love with wood lamps. Any piece of wood can be used to add personality to a room and emphasize your unique style. We just love this material for lighting, as it adds warmth and elegance, it’s pretty cheap to acquire and easy enough to thread a wire through.

You can use new wood, recycle old wood elements from cabinets, wool spools, or you could even give driftwood a try. Oh, and if you’re looking for something special, know that wood veneer can be used in the making of a lamp (or a lampshade to be more precise).

In today’s post, we’re adding a new wood lamp to our collection. We’re featuring a geometric, minimalist wood lamp, created by the talented Audrey from the Oh So Lovely blog, with the help of her husband Ted and our DIY lamp-wiring kit.

“We’ve been searching for the perfect minimalist wood lamp for a side table in our downstairs living room for a while, but couldn’t find anything we liked in our price range, so we decided to make our own.

It was easier than I expected and we love how it turned out!

Ted is almost finished making a second lamp in a smaller size (8″). Once it’s done I can’t wait to find a home for it. I placed the finished lamp in a corner of the dining room to see how it might look there.”

Wood lamps can come in all shapes and functions, the only limit is your imagination. If you’re not comfortable working with power tools, ask at your local hardware store to have your wood cut to size for you. Or just ask a friend who loves woodworking to help you out.

To make her DIY wood lamp, Audrey used:
